Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) and TAAN Pokhara Chapter on May 5 jointly conducted search for three Ukrainian trekkers who were swept away by a flash flood in Seti River at Kharapani near Pokhara. Dubinskiy Oleksandr, Malakhov Ivan and Polonchuk Alla have gone missing following the flood. Dubinskiy’s daughter Maria managed to escape the flood waters with the help of a local hotelier. Though it has already been two days since the catastrophe hit the beautiful village, Maria hasn’t lost the hopes of finding her kin alive. Officials of TAAN and TAAN Pokhara Chapter on May 5 took Maria along with them to the incident site on a chopper to take stock of the search operation. They also conducted aerial search for the missing Ukrainians. TAAN President Mahendra Singh Thapa, TAAN’s rescue committee coordinator Ram Bahadur Nepal Chhetri and officials of TAAN Pokhara Chapter were in the team. The TAAN officials assured Maria that the association would make its best effort to search her family members.
